Lady Gaga remix!

Since Lady Gaga is one of the hottest dancers right now, we thought we should inform you about the latest dance news about Gaga.

Last night American Idol decided to make their own Lady Gaga music video. Apparently FOX edited down Lady Gaga’s performance from its originally 6:30 minute performance to under 5 minutes and Lady Gaga is not happy about it!

She expressed her anger on her Twitter account by saying that “FOX POORLY + AMATEURLY edited + cut my performance/musical arrangement on idol.”

Here is the edited version. What do you think they left out? Would you be mad also or in 6 minutes to long of a performance?

Miley Cyrus can dance?

Alright... I never thought that I would be writing a blog about Miley Cyrus, but I am. I could not believe my eyes when I saw Miley Cyrus's new music video. Take a look for yourself but I think it is fair to say that... well she cannot dance! What happened to the days of "Hanna Montana." Are we looking at the next Brittany Spears?

Fences hits Broadway!

Although this blog is mainly about dancing, I feel as though it is also appropriate that we look at plays since they involve dancing.

One of my favorite plays of all times is August Wilson's "Fences." If you have not read it yet, I suggest you do so. It is am amazing story. Well.. "Fences" is now playing on Broadway in New York City and Denzel Washington is playing the part of Troy. I believe that this will truthfully be one of the best performances that Broadway has seen!

I suggest that you check it out. Here is a link to the official "Fences" website. http://www.fencesonbroadway.com/

Here is a trailer for the play appear on Broadway through July 11, 2010.

Dancing hits the ballot!

As London prepares for their election on Thursdays, a number of issues are arising. You may wonder what this has to do with dance. Well one of the issues on the ballot this year is the issue of dance.

As more and more shows like Dancing With The Stars air on TV, the country believes that it is no longer the true art that is used to be. Caroline Miller, director of the advocacy group Dance UK, explained that several things led to DanceVote 2010, a campaign designed to put the art of dance in the hands of the Parliament.

Dance is now a school subject at British schools and universities, but people are wondering if this academic subject should remain as dance’s official status continues to change.

Miller also explained that, “Dance is the most popular physical activity for the young after school, and that for girls it is the most popular.”

Some people are arguing that dance is necessary because it is the only form of exercise that some people get after the age of 18.

I agree! A lot of people do not have time to workout during the week, so they get their exercise by hitting the dance floor with their friends. Ladies, this is another reason to try out some new dance moves. It is a great way to stay in shape!

I asked Colorado State University students what they thought of dance and got some great responses.

“I think dancing is a great way to stay in shape and have fun with my girlfriends,” Jen Marzano, a senior business major at CSU said.

“If people are so concerned with keeping obesity down, we need to keep dancing and music a normal activity,” Jake Donovan, a senior at CSU said.

I also asked Colorado University dancer Jamie Boyle what she though of dance. “I think that it is an important part of growing up. From your first dance with your father to your first high school homecoming dance, to your wedding dance, it is a fundamental aspect of many significant parts of your life.”

I think that we need to keep people dancing for many reasons; for fun, exercise, good memories, laughter, love and because it is a innovative way to express yourself!
